Healthy Bowels – Healthy Mind
Welcome to the first blog post from www.BowelHealthNow.com, the website leading you to inner health and radiance.
When our bowels are functioning normally we don’t give them much thought – but when they go wrong boy do they become the focus of our attention!
If you’ve every been constipated you will know how sluggish, lethargic and downright uncomfortable your body feels. Your mind becomes clouded, unable to concentrate; you have a headache and can’t be bothered with things.
Diarrhoea on the other hand brings you attention to your gut with the griping pains and urgent messages to visit the toilet.
Those who suffer with conditions such as IBS, colitis or diverticulitis know only too well the impact this has on their daily lives, and the pain and misery it can cause.
What of the mind’s effect on the bowels? Worried about something – your colon may stiffen, go into mild spasm and fail to pass food along, or go into overdrive and require emptying. Are you prone to constipation or diarrhoea when stressed; do you suffer from indigestion?
Are you holding on to old feelings from the past? How does this manifest in physical symptoms of the gut – literally, being unable to let go of old hurts can make you constipated!
Our intestines can be the “poor relations” of our bodies, neglected until they cause us discomfort, pain or problems – let’s think about them before its too late and elevate them to the status of VERY IMPORTANT – to be nurtured and cared for, fed and watered and kept in tip top condition. In return they will extract nutrients and pass them into the blood or lymph systems; converting fat into fatty acids and glycerol, protein into amino acids, carbohydrate into sugary glucose. The large intestine will extract water and pass it back into the blood, pushing the remaining undigested fibrous mass towards and out of the exit route.
Efficient bowels = a feeling of wellbeing, lightness and clarity of mind – to quote Louise Hay “I gently and easily release the past and allow all life to flow through me”
Wishing you inner health and radiance,
Gill
